The goal of the Andaman and Nicobar Ilands Fisheries Policy, 2018 is to ensure the health of the marine living resources of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Exclusive Economic Zone through sustainable harvest for the benefit of present and future generations. The freshwater fisheries though small, can also not be ignored particularly, when the growth of fishes in the Islands is much below the National Average. The overall strategy of Policy shall be based on sustainable development, socio-economic upliftment of fishers, principle of subsidiarity, partnership, inter-generational equity, gender justice and precautionary approach. This strategy will guide the actions of various stakeholders in meeting the vision and Mission set for the Policy of Islands. This Policy will have an implementation plan that will specify the action points under each recommendation contained in the Policy.
