Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said that Telangana would emerge as a fisheries exporting State as the government has been releasing fishlings into all the water bodies besides filling minor irrigation tanks with Godavari water. Prabhakar Reddy said that Telangana would become a hub for fisheries industries soon since the water bodies would remain filled round the year. Addressing the news reporters after releasing fishlings into Peddacheruvu, the biggest lake in Chegunta mandal in Kondapur on Sunday, the Medak MP said that the previous government that ruled the State had completely ignored the well-being of fishermen community. He further said that they had even failed to identify the potential of raising fishlings in water bodies. Hailing Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who conceived the idea, Reddy said that the Chief Minister’s decision had completely changed the lives of the fishermen in Telangana. In addition to releasing fishlings into the water bodies, Reddy said that they had initiated several programmes such as distribution of vehicles to fishermen at subsidy rate. He suggested Chegunta MPP Srinivas, ZPTC member B Srinivas, other leaders and Fisheries Department officials to release the fishlings into all the water bodies to benefit the fishermen. He said that not only fishermen, but also the entire State would become prosperous with Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
