The 2025 UN Ocean Conference will be held in Nice, France from 9 – 13 June 2025. The theme of this high-level conference is “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”. The Conference aims to support further and urgent action to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development and identify further ways and means to support the implementation of SDG 14.

The Conference will include 10 Ocean Action Panels, which shall be collaborative and multi-stakeholder in nature and will focus on commitments and actions to support the implementation of Goal 14. Following the Preparatory Meeting on 2 July 2024, the Permanent Representatives of Costa Rica and France issued a letter with the final themes of the Ocean Action Panels.

In preparation for the 2025 UN Ocean Conference Conference, the Secretary-General of the Conference will prepare, in consultation with the co-hosts of the Conference, concept papers for each of the themes of the Ocean Action panels.

Non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector, philanthropic organizations, Indigenous Peoples and local communities and other actors are invited to contribute substantive inputs to the concept papers of the Ocean Action Panels through this global online stakeholder consultation.

Contributions will be shared broadly and will be available online on the Conference’s website. A summary, including outcomes of the consultation and key inputs/messages, will be prepared by DESA and made publicly available.
