The Fisheries Ministry says that it would inform the Foreign Affairs Ministry to seek the assistance of foreign countries to locate a Sri Lankan fishing trawler which went missing last week. According to the Ministry, the multi-day fishing trawler with four fishermen aboard had left Sri Lankan shores on September 18 from Kalmunai and is reported to have been missing since then. Further, the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, and other commercial ships too have been informed to rescue the fishermen if they spot a distressed vessel in the seas. Meanwhile, four fishermen who went missing on another fishing trawler after leaving the Kalmunai shores on September 20 have been rescued by a patrol vessel of the Fisheries Ministry. The vessel which had capsized was located 350 nautical miles from the area.
