The Ceylon Fishery Harbor Corporation has requested the Minister of Fisheries to take steps to supply the required amount of fuel to the fishing harbors around the island. During a discussion held Wednesday with the Secretary to the Fisheries Ministry and the heads of affiliated institutions, the Fisheries Harbor officials have requested the Ministry to facilitate the future procurement of fuel stocks for the fishing harbors from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.
Attention has been drawn to the problems in releasing fish products to the market and reduction of the current high prices of fish. The National Aquaculture Development Authority stated that fish growers are facing difficulties due to the shortage of dollars in importing fish feed for aquaculture.
