The joy of giving and sharing was in the air this Christmas as 30 fishermen were presented with hampers at the Pusat Perkhidmatan Setempat Nelayan (PPSN) in Sungai Batu and Gertak Sanggul, Penang.
Penang Infrastructure Corporation (PIC) chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus said the recipients, who operated near the Penang South Reclamation (PSR) project site, were identified by PPSN.
The Gertak Sanggul and Teluk Kumbar Village Community Management Councils helped PPSN in the effort to identify the recipients.
“Hampers containing food items have been given to the fishermen and their families every festive season by PPSN,” said Farizan.
‘‘It was set up in 2016 by the Penang government to serve south Penang island fishermen.
“We have built a close rapport with them over the years and hope that this hamper contribution will bring some Christmas happiness to their families and lessen their financial burden.
