Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment has chosen Katara Beach for farming 40,000 sha’am fish, as it is a natural reserve and a suitable environment for the breeding of this kind of fish.
Katara beach is appropriate due to restrictions on fish hunting and its high environmental characteristics which make it a suitable venue for the breeding of this type of fish in order to enrich fish stocks and to protect marine biodiversity of Qatar, Katara said a statement.
The Cultural Village Foundation Katara pays great attention to everything that would preserve the diversity of the environment and achieve sustainable environmental development, either through its various cultural activities or through its support to initiatives in this field in order to preserve the environment in general, including the marine environment.
Katara is also keen on spreading environmental awareness, whether heritage, through its heritage marine activities and informing new generations about it, or through its cooperation with various authorities in the country to enhance the State’s efforts in protecting the environment.
