A meeting of Innovative Fish Farmers Association (IFFA), Punjab, was held at College of Fisheries, GADVASU, in which fish farmers from different districts of the state discussed their queries related to fish culture. With the advent of summer season, new production ponds needs to be prepared for stocking of fish and already running ponds need special care in terms of management practices, so that fish can withstand the transition phase of winter to summer.
The important tips in this regard were given by Dr Grishma Tewari, particularly regarding water quality and feeding management, so that the farmers can protect their fish from various diseases especially parasitic infestations, the chances of which get enhanced to greater extent with increasing temperature. Dr Vaneet Inder Kaur, Co-ordinator of IFFA, aware the famers about the different schemes under “Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampda Yojna (PMMSY)”, recently launched by Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, New Delhi with an estimated investment of Rs. 20,050 Crores for the development of Fisheries in the country in a holistic manner.
