Activists of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) hold protest rallies across Sindh on Tuesday against the alleged kidnapping and torture of PFF chairman Muhammad Ali Shah and district chairman PFF Sujwal district Noor Ahmed.

The rallies were taken out in various districts across Sindh including Sujawal, Thatta, Sanghar, Badin, Hyderabad, and Jamshoro including the protest rally at Karachi press club.

On Monday PFF alleged that armed men of Shoukat Ali Malkani, the influential brother of Provincial Minister for Fisheries Sindh, Muhammad Ali Malkani kidnapped and torture its leader.

The protest rallies were led by the PFF’s Chair, District Sujawal President Noor Muhammad Theamore, Central Information Secretary Gulab Shah, Karachi Division General secretary Talib Karachi and others. The protesters held banners and placards showing the slogans against the inhuman victimization of PFF’s leaders. The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of Shoukat Ali Malkani, end of illegal occupation of lakes in the form of immediate legal action against this human rights violation.

Addressing the rally, PFF’s chief Muhammad Ali Shah said the harassment, victimization and all other forms of inhuman treatment of our movement cannot suppress our strength. He said the influential feudal of the Provincial Minister Fisheries has illegally occupied the historical lake Babli with the help of his armed men. The illegal occupation of indigenous lakes still continues by these feudal lords in spite of Sindh High Court’s notification of ending illegal occupation of all water bodies of Sindh. These feudal are snatching the bread and butter of the underprivileged fishing community. He said PFF’s will continue to struggle against such illegal occupations till end. Addressing Chief Minister Sindh, IG Sindh Police, DG Rangers, Shah demanded to remove Muhammad Ali Malkani from the seat of Fisheries Minister and arrest his brother Shoukat Ali Malkani or else the CM house will be surrounded as part of the struggle.
