Odisha has sought Rs 1100 crore assistance for Centre due to the floods that wreaked havoc in the state. A Central team was in the state to assess the damage caused due floods. After their review, they met with senior officials of the Odisha Government including Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena. As per preliminary reports, 1.2lakh houses have been damaged in the floods. Besides, 2.25 lakh ha of agricultural land has suffered more than 33 per cent damage. Fisheries sector: – Financial assistance of Rs.12,200/- per hectare will be provided to fish farmers (Freshwater/ Brackish water) for repair of damaged fish ponds/ dykes. – Input subsidy @ Rs 8200/- per ha. will be given for de-silting/ restoration/ repair of damaged fish seed farm.
