The forest personnel of Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary on Tuesday arrested 39 fishermen andseized four fishing boats for illegally catching fish inside the the prohibited area of Gahirmatha marine sanctuary. ACF-cum-Range in charge of Gahrimatha Marine Sanctuary Srirampada Arabinda Mishra said during the sea patrolling at the sea coast to protect the endangered marine Species Olive Ridley Sea turtle, the forets personnel came across 12 fishermen were catching fish illegally at the prohibited area of Gahirmatha marine sanctuary near Habalikhati They chased fishermen and arrested 12 fishermen ,seized the two boats, fish catch, fishing nets, and other fish catching equipments from their possession. Similarly, in another incident 27 fishermen were arrested and two fishing boats were seized from their possessions for catching fish illegally at the prohibited zone near Babubali. The forest personnel also seized 2. 5 quintals of fish catch, 10 sets of fishing nets and other equipment from the boats .
