Myanmar will officially send workers for the fishing industry in Thailand in the third week of September, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population on September 18. The labour minister of Thailand came to Myanmar in late August and offered to recruit Myanmar workers for the undermanned fishing industry in Thailand. Both countries will open one stop service centers Kawthoung in Myanmar and Ranong in Thailand after they have reached an agreement on the official recruitment of Myanmar workers. Win Shein, Director-General of the Labour Department said: Fishing workers reunion and reacceptance camps will be opened in Ranong. Myanmar will open one stop centers where workers will sign contracts. We will send workers only for on-shore fishing vessels installed with GPS devices. Priority will be given to Myanmar workers who have experiences of working in fishing industry. MoU workers will enjoy the minimum salary from at least 10,000 to 12,000 Thai baht according to the law in Thailand. The Thai Labour Ministry has guaranteed that Myanmar workers are entitled to rights, social security and remittance according to the Thai Labour Protection Act.
