The Mexican Government expects that the execution of primary production and value added projects will help increase production with productive infrastructure, machinery and equipment for aquaculture and fisheries activities; conservation, management and added value of production, as well as projects of genetic material and aquaculture species.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) will take this year women as a priority in the rural sector with the component “The Farm in Our Hands”, which is expected to increase agricultural, aquaculture and fishing production for this sector of the population in rural and peri-urban areas.
The Undersecretariat for Rural Development reported that this component is part of the new program of SAGARPA, called “Support to Small Producers”, and the stimuli will be allocated to women producers over 18 years and up to 65 years.
The development of the component begins this year in an official way on the instructions of SAGARPA’s head, Jose Calzada Rovirosa, with the aim of prioritizing the productive development of women in the rural sector, with the counters ready for the reception of applications until 28 February 2017.
The Farm in Our Hands program will provide incentives to producers with productive packages for self-consumption and projects of primary production and value added to boost the rural economic units made up of women and, thus, increase the availability of food.
Primary production and value added projects may include productive infrastructure, as well as machinery and equipment for primary production activities such as agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and fisheries; conservation, management and added value of production. The objective of the component is to increase production with incentives for genetic and vegetative material projects, including aquaculture species.
