A few fell unconscious while some lost their hearing capacity for about two hours. All are being treated at a nearby hospital. Lightning also struck at several homes in Utan. Some fishing villages in Bhayander (W) reported damage to electronic equipment like television, refrigerator and fans. Locals said that this is the first case of death due to lightning in the village. They added that fishermen have put away their nets and equipment as monsoon has begun and there will be no fishing activity for almost a month. Fishermen said that there should be authorities should warn people to stay indoors during such lightning and thunderstorms. They have demanded compensation for Admani’s family.
