Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr L Murugan on Sunday directed the Lakshadweep Administration to adopt innovative and scientific ideas in the marketing sector to help fishermen of the region.The Union Minister also directed to start these necessary processes immediately, especially in the marketing sector to ensure basic pricing.He also visited the Tuna fish processing areas in Lakshadweep where the fishermen follow a traditional fish processing method. There he interacted with fishermen and got an insight into the difficulties faced by the islanders, especially in the field of fish processing. The fishermen elaborated on the problems they faced in the fish processing and marketing sectors.

After listening to their problems, the Minister instructed the officials accompanying him to swiftly redress these complaints.The Minister was accompanied by the Adviser to the Administrator A. Anbarasu, Fisheries Secretaries K. T. Damodar, O. P. Mishra and other senior officials.He also planted saplings at the Jetty area, the gateway to Agatti Island. He later visited patients at the Island’s specialty hospital.Arriving in Agatti from Bangaram Island this morning, he flagged off a cycle rally campaign organized by a group of students and fishermen on Agatti Island as part of the ongoing ‘National Unity Day’ celebrations in Lakshadweep. After completing his three-day official visit to Lakshadweep, the Minister returned to Kochi this afternoon.
