A three-day international fisheries and seafood exposition opened Thursday in Taiwan’s southern port city of Kaohsiung with the participation of some 210 exhibitors from 15 countries, including the host nation, Taiwan.

The 2015 Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show is being held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, where it is divided into seven different sectors, including fishing technologies, aquaculture, seafood processing, machinery and equipment, fishery services, government and academic entities, and international exhibitors, according to a statement from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), one of the organizers of the event.

The exhibitors from South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia have set up their respective themed halls at the exhibition venue to showcase their products.

The fair, which will run through Nov. 21, is expected to attract visits by some 6,000 buyers from some 30 countries around the world, creating up to NT$100 billion (US$3.06 billion) in business opportunities, TAITRA estimated.

During the exhibition, the organizers are facilitating parallel one-to-one meetings between exhibitors and buyers, as well as visits to local manufacturers, it added.
