To fulfill the vision of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in doubling farmers income by 2022, the ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute in Barrackpore (Kolkata) is providing required help to the Cyclone-affected fishermen of the Sagar Island in the Sundarbans.
In this regard, ICAR-CIFRI had organized a programme wherein it distributed essential inputs like fish seed, lime, feed and medicine to a huge number of Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST) beneficiaries (approx. 350) of Sagar Island. The programme was organized at the two places i.e. Jibontala (150 Beneficiaries) & Krishnanagar (200 Beneficiaries) covering the beneficiaries of 14 Villages and 5 Gram Panchayats of Gangasagar last week.
The fishers were provided with various inputs like 36 Tonnes of fish feed, around 100 Lakh fish seed & 350 Medicines (200 ml for fish).
