The fisheries department and the Centre have requested the Indian Embassy in Oman and the Oman government respectively to search for about 55 Indian fishermen in five deep sea fishing vessels who could have drifted into their waters due to Cyclone Kyarr in the Arabian Sea.

Talking to TOI, fisheries director G S Sameeran said the number of boats that were in the vulnerable path of the super cyclone has reduced from seven to five after the locations of two boats were traced on Monday night by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai.
