Indigenes of Nkoro town in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State in Nigeria have continued to lament the activities of illegal refiners in neighboring communities which have affected the aquatic life in their community.

The people, who are predominantly fishermen and women, said the action of these artisanal refiners has affected their means of livelihood.

A community leader, Amaopusenibo Steve Orubienimigha, who spoke on behalf of his people said aquatic life in the community has been degraded.
