The Norwegian Fishermen’s Association has strongly condemned the Russian Federation’s military attack on Ukraine – but has also stressed the importance of maintaining co-operation with Russia on fisheries.
‘We want, as far as possible, to continue our own co-operation with Russian fisheries organisations,’ state the Association’s director Kåre Heggebø and general secretary Sverre Johansen.
According to the Norwegian Fishermen’s Association, co-operation between the two countries has been vital and experience has shown that it is possible to co-operate on joint resource management in the Barents Sea despite disagreements and conflicts of interest….
