Goa govt today issued a notification revising registration fees for Fish Traders in the State. Trader who do not possess Fishing Vessel Registered with the Fisheries Dept under Marine Fishing Regulation Act will have to shell out Rs 1.25 lakh as registration fee. For those who possess Fishing Vessel Registered under Act, the registrations fees shall be Rs 50,000.

Earlier, the registration fee for fish traders was Rs 2 lakh with security deposit of Rs 20,000. The receipt for payment of fees shall be in the name of Fisheries Co-operative Society, Association or Federation, states the notification issued by the Dept in this regards. The Fisheries Co-operative Society, Association or Federation shall not stop any of the Fish Traders to buy fish from any of the fishing vessels registered by the Department and also ensure that no fish traders shall deny to purchase fish from the owner of the fishing vessels registered by the Department, the notification further adds.

Through another notification, the dept has cancelled the order specifying fees per vessel per season for individual fishermen to transport their fish catch within the State or outside the State .
