Authorities in the Cambodian province of Prey Veng say that there has been a recent decrease in illegal fishing methods such as electro-fishing, while fishing with illegal nets remains a problem.

The Director of Prey Veng Provincial Fisheries Administration, Oun Sinath, told local news on December 22 that at the moment there is a decrease in fishing crimes after multiple arrests, but the crackdown on those involved with illegal fishing practices continues.

According to the Director, the crackdown was able to be conducted due to the cooperation of the fishing community, the provincial courts, and especially the armed forces and local authorities.
