Six Chinese sailors of two Chinese fishing boats that were illegally operating in waters near the Han River have been arrested by the South Korean Coast Guard.
The Incheon Coast Guard on Friday arrested the Chinese fishermen, including the captains of the two vessels, on charges of conducting unauthorized fishing in the Han River estuary.
Eight other Chinese sailors were also booked without detention.
The Incheon District Court issued arrest warrants for all of them saying they don’t have a certain residence and could flee.
The group of 14 fishermen is charged with illegal fishing after they trespassed one-point-four kilometers into neutral waters near Gyodong Island in Incheon at around 7:10 p.m. this past Tuesday.
They are charged with violating the Fisheries Act because the illegal fishing operation took place in a neutral area.
