Caribbean Community (Caricom) fisheries ministers will meet later on Monday to discuss a new strategic direction for the fisheries and aquaculture sector across the region.

The virtual Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) coincides with the 16th observance of the Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) that also begins on Monday.

CRFM said that the fisheries and aquaculture sector produced fish with an estimated value of US$480 million in 2020, despite the economic devastation caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
