The European Union is preparing to pay Dutch fishermen to give up their jobs. A staggering bail-out will be given to Dutch fleets that have been impacted by Brexit changes.
Coming out of the EU’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve fund, the bloc has approved €155million (£131million) in state aid for fishers that have been negatively impacted by Brexit.
In a tweet this afternoon, Georg von Harrach, Channel 4’s EU correspondent, reported: “EU approves €155million state aid for Dutch fishing fleet impacted by Brexit. Fishermen will be paid to give up fishing. The money will come from the EU’s Brexit Adjustment Reserve fund.”
