Department of Fisheries seized 5,000 meters of fishing net along 16 kilometer stretch of Halda River today. The illegal fishing net was seized in a 3-hour-long drive beginning at 4.00 pm. Nazmul Huda, fisheries officer of Hathazari upazila fisheries office told The Daily Star that they conducted the drive from the Noyarhat area to the Kalorghat area — a 16 kilometer long stretch of Halda River seizing 5,000 meters of fishing net. The net was installed in the river hoisted on bamboo poles, he added. River Police and members of the Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) cooperated in the drive.
