The Ministry of Fisheries will hold on Friday in Luanda its first Consultative Council/2016 under the motto “Increase Production to contribute to the Food and Nutritional Security “, says a press release from this body that reached Angop on Wednesday.

The forum aims to find ways of increasing fish and salt production, thus contributing to food and people’s nutritional security, reads the document.

During the event, the participants will discuss the “Proposal for Creating a Fish Processing Plant within the diversification of the economy”, “The challenges of the sector in face of the new legal framework for private investment” and the assessment on the production of salt in the country.

The diagnosis of the state of fisheries infrastructures will also deserve an approach at the meeting that will also serve for the presentation of the year 2015 report on the fisheries sector activity.

The event will count on the participation of representatives of the national fishing associations and the association of salt workers, ship owners, directors of fisheries department of the country’s 18 provinces, members of fishing cooperatives, representatives of women fish processing women association, national directors of fisheries institutes, representatives of FAO and of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
