The suppression of fisheries crimes continues and joint forces have seized illegal fishing equipment from fishermen in Pursat, Cambodia.
The crackdown took place on April 26 at Kampong Thkol Village, Ansa Chambok Commune, Krakor District near the border of Kampong Chhnang and Pursat. The joint force included: Provincial Economic Crime Police, South Tonle Sap Fisheries Administration Inspectorate, Sub-Committees and Fisheries Crime Suppression Taskforce.
Phum Vimol, Director of the Fisheries Department of the Pursat Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, led the taskforce to crackdown on the fishermen using illegal fishing equipment. They seized 100 mosquito nets in two crackdowns. Aside from the nets, the forces also dismantled 36 fishing barriers set up and released the fish caught inside back into the Tonle Sap.
