At least three people were killed and over 80,000 people were affected as the southwest monsoon continued to bring heavy rains throughout most of Luzon yesterday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a 39-year-old woman was killed in Baguio City on Friday while two men, aged 35 and 15, were hit by lightning in Ilocos Norte.

The woman figured in a vehicular accident due to a fallen tree, injuring two of her companions – while the two men were struck by lightning in Tartarabang in the municipality of Pinili, but this was still being validated by the NDRRMC.

At least 19,521 families or 87,493 persons were affected in Regions 3 and 4, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Cordillera Administrative Region and Metro Manila.

At least 2,105 families or 22,693 individuals are staying inside 157 evacuation centers in Luzon.

There have been at least 178 flooding incidents in barangays, mostly in Region 3 and the National Capital Region.

Damage to infrastructure reached P2.4 million, with a total of 374 houses partially or totally damaged by rains.

Some P14.5 million in infrastructure losses were also reported to the NDRRMC. The agency said about P924,666 worth of assistance has been provided to displaced families in Luzon.
