Another program to sink discarded buses and fishing vessels with the objective to increase the fish population in the sea was launched at the Galle Fisheries Harbor today under the patronage of State Minister of Fisheries Kanchana Wijesekara. The dilapidated buses and fishing vessels will be hauled by the Sri Lanka Navy Ship ‘Sayura’ about 5 km away from the Galle Harbor and submerged in the sea. The purpose is to create an environment conducive to the breeding of small fish. The program was implemented under the supervision of the Navy. The pilot project was first launched near the Trincomalee Port and is currently in operation successfully.
