The Taiwan International Fisheries & Seafood Show 2016 (TIFS 2016) organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and My Exhibition Co., opens today and runs until Nov. 11 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center.
It is the only exhibition of its kind that connects professional expertise across the fisheries sector — including supply chain managers government agencies and representatives from academia. The show not only highlights changing trends and provides comprehensive insights into the industry, but also connects Taiwan with the international fisheries market.
A total of 212 companies are taking part in this year’s event, which is spread over 401 exhibition booths and includes 21 foreign exhibitors, including some from Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and multiple South Pacific countries.
Highlighting the show’s international scope, Japan will for the first time showcase its advanced technologies and leading aquaculture capabilities at TIFS.
Malaysia will also make its debut at the exhibition, with the show expected to attract more than 7,000 industry leaders from Taiwan and abroad.
This grand event unfolds in seven dedicated areas: Fishery Equipment and Technology, Aquaculture, Seafood and Value-added Seafood, Processing Equipment, Fishery Services, Marine Biotechnology, Oversea Exhibitors and Local Government & Academia.
Major exhibitors include: the Taiwan Fishing Gears Manufacturing Industries Association, the Fish Breeding Association, the Taiwan Frozen Seafood Industries Association, Kaohsiung City Government Marine Bureau, the Pingtung County Government Department of Agriculture’s Fishery Office and Tainan City Government Agriculture Bureau.
Flagship exhibitor companies include: Sun Rise E&T Corp., Toford Plastic Manufacturing Corp. and Ching Fa Fishing Implements Factory Co.
Exhibitors from academia will also be present, with booths from the National Taiwan Ocean University and the National Kaohsiung Marine University.
Under the theme “Green Fishery and Resource Sustainability,” the show advocates a transformation from “resource utilization” to “resource management” through the promotion of environmentally-friendly fisheries and aquaculture practices.
The “2016 Taiwan Aquaculture Industry Trends Seminar” features discussion topics ranging from “The State of World Aquaculture 2016,” “Sustainable Grouper Aquaculture,” to “The Trend in Seafood Markets in Asia,” “Next Generation Advanced Fisheries Exploration & Radar Technology,” and more.
To familiarize visitors with the latest products and various seafood recipes, the event organizer will hold the INNO Stage of Breakthroughs and Cooking & Tasting Yummy Seafood.
Additionally, to help Taiwan business better connect with international markets, there will be 1-on-1 procurement meetings to match buyers and sellers. Invited international buyers hail from South Africa, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Brazil, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada and China. Among them are Kaytrad Commodities from South Africa, Amacore from the Netherlands, Azucena Hernandez from Mexico and Nichimo from Japan.
