The Provincial Directorate of Fisheries in Bengo in Angola controls 21 artisanal fishing cooperatives, eight in the commune of Barra do Dande, legally exercising the fishing activity.

The information was given Sunday to Angop by the provincial director of Bengo Fisheries, Pessoa Manuel José.

He explained that the associations require a reorganisation because they were created between 1980 and 2000, needing to be updated, taking into account the new current policies and standards in the country.

Pessoa Manuel José stressed that the fisheries sector has its legislation that consists on the monitoring of biological and water resources thus entailing the compliance with the law.
