Spot prices for Norwegian farmed salmon are to continue on their downward spiral next week.

One exporter, speaking to iLaks, cited prices of NOK 52-52 per kilogram for salmon sized 3-4kg and NOK 55-56 for 4-5kg.

“There is a decline of a few krone, he said. “Slowly, but surely, it will continue to go down as volumes are increased. This is normal. With holidays taking place in Europe, it’s a good time to get good deals on more fish.

A fellow exporter agreed, citing the following prices in southern Norway.

NOK 48 for 2-3kg; NOK 54 for 3-4kg; NOK 56 for 4-5kg; NOK 58 for 5-6kg; and NOK 66 for 6+kg.

“It’s going to sag slightly steadily over the next month, he said. “There will be more fish, and the market is pretty quiet.

Another exporter said “prices are under pressure.

“We expect that the price will be adjusted down two to three krone compared to last week, he said, citing prices of NOK 53 for 3- 4kg; NOK 54- 55 for 4- 5kg; and NO 55- 56 for 5- 6kg.

‘The Norwegian krone being weak is also very positive for the industry, added the exporter.
