A two-day livestock and fisheries exposition in Phnom Penh next month, organized by a Vietnamese events management company, will display products and exhibits of 60 agriculture firms from across Southeast Asia, Japan and Europe.
The Agri-Livestock and Aqua Fisheries Expo 2016 will be held in Phnom Penh between August 8 and 10 and will feature products from agrochemical, livestock and aqua fisheries companies, said Nguyen Ba Vinh, director general of the Vietnam-based Minh Vi Exhibition and Advertisement Services, on Thursday.
We will have 60 companies from all over Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia, and also Japan and Europe in the expo, said Mr. Nguyen.
On display will be agricultural equipment, fertilizers, livestock and fish feed, seafood processing machines, incubators for breeding poultry and vaccines for animal disease control, he added.
The expo, said Mr. Nguyen, will bring together both international and Cambodian agricultural producers in the livestock and fisheries sectors and enable them to exchange ideas and build contacts.
Cambodia is home to some of the world’s most intensive freshwater fisheries. The 2.6 million tons of fish caught annually in the Mekong basin represent seven times more than the catch of North American inland fisheries and more than 10 times the entire fish catch in Australia, he said.
The country’s pig and chicken production are also big. This expo will be a once in a lifetime experience for Cambodian livestock and fisheries producers.
Ieng Sotheara, founder of the Khmer Organic Cooperative, a company selling organic food in Phnom Penh, said he welcomed the expo which would help Cambodian producers learn from their international counterparts.
