A restaurant bought a 200kg bluefin tuna for 14 million yen ($117,283) at the first auction for 2016 at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Kiyoshi Kimura, the president of Kiyomura Corp which owns a chain of sushi restaurants, won the first bid for the fifth consecutive year.

The tuna was caught off the coast of Oma, in Aomori prefecture, north of Japan.

The highest-ever bid was made in 2013, when Kiyomura Corp purchased a bluefin tuna for 155 million yen ($1.3 million).
