The provincial governor of the coastal Cuanza Sul province Eusébio de Brito Teixeira said Thursday in Luanda considered the fisheries sector a key factor that contribute to diversification of economy and help combat hunger and poverty, due to the potential the local seas and rivers offer and the profitability the activity can bring in the domestic market.

The official was speaking to Angop at the stand of International Fisheries and Aquaculture Fair of Angola (FIPA2015), running from 26 to 29 of this month, at the FILDA premises.

He appealed to entrepreneurs and those involved in this activity to publicise their actions to ensure successful achievement of this goal.

Cuanza Sul province has 180 km coastline with all favourable condition for the exercise of the fishing activity, he said, calling for the need to make financial investment to purchase equipment such as piers, cold stores and vessels.

The governor said the local government is also working on incentives for aquaculture, according to him, an important activity for the strengthening of the national economic balance.

About 80 national and foreign exhibitors are participating in the FIPA 2015.
