Authorities in Nicaragua’s Distrito Naval del Pacifico (DNP) say there is a fight on the Pacific coast to eradicate the use of slow-wick bombs, reports La Prensa.
Gerardo Roberto Fornos, chief of the DNP, said an order has come from general Julio Cesar Aviles, ejercito de Nicaragua, to protect the natural resources.
“This as a fishing system did not get anywhere,” said Fornos. “It must be a struggle of all: population, villages, public ministry and even the same honest fishermen who must warn, so that our children and grandchildren can know these species of fish.”
