The Fisheries Division of Antigua and Barbuda is introducing an event dubbed seafood explosion in an effort to stop the over-consumption of certain species.

Senior Fisheries Officer Tricia Lovell explains having a closed season on lobster has more to do with reproduction than demand of the item.

Lovell says the seafood explosion will highlight other species such as cockle and crab.

The Fisheries Division Seafood Explosion will be taking place at the Point Wharf on Thursday.
