A total of Tk 584 crore 30 lakh 84,000 was spent on 48 projects, undertaken by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock from July 2017 to May 2018 this fiscal, against allocation of Tk 824 crore 25 lakh, or 70.89 percent of the targeted expenditure. Ministry sources said, of the expenditure, more than Tk 278 crore 54 lakh was from the allocated amount of Tk. 407 crore and 3 lakh of 26 projects of the department of fisheries, while Tk. 305 crore and 77 lakh out of the allocated Tk 417 crore 22 lakh of 22 projects of the Department of Livestock under the ministry. Sources concerned said, in the FY 2016-17 a total of Tk. 821 crore 73 lakh was allocated for 56 projects of the fisheries and livestock sub-sectors, and during the same period the expenditure was more than Tk. 559 crore 71 lakh, or 68.11 percent of the total allocation. During that period, Tk. 307 crore 55 lakh was spent from the allocated amount of Tk 419 crore 96 lakh of a total of 31 projects of the department of fisheries, and Tk 252 crore 16 lakh was spent from the allocated 401 crore 77 lakh of 25 projects of the department of livestock. Ministry officials hope, it will be possible to spend 100 percent of the allocated amount for FY 2017-18 and full implementation of all the projects will also be done within the timeframe. Department of Fisheries and Department of Livestock are two major departments among a total of 8 departments, directorates and organizations under the ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. Ministry sources said, the activities of the two departments are spread up to the Upazila level, even the ministry has spread the activities of the Livestock Department up to the Union level, with an aim to widen the services to the remotest parts of the country.
