In a tragic incident, two fisher women were killed and four others injured when lightning struck them in the district in two separate incidents today. According to Jambu marine police station, two fisher women and as many fishermen had gone to the sea for fishing this morning in a mechanized country boat when the mishap took place. All of them were fishing near the Gobari river mouth, about 7 kms from Hokitola island when lightning struck them killing Panti Mandal (56) and her daughter Deepali Mandal (36) on the spot while two others identified as Tarak Mandal, son of Deepali Mandal and one Dasi Mandal, a relative of Panti Mandal injured in the mishap.
