Chandigarh, Jun 6 (UNI) Haryana government has imposed ban on catching fishes in notified waters under the Punjab Fisheries Act 1914 and the Haryana Fisheries Rules 1996 framed there under, from July 1 to August 31, 2018. If anyone catches fishes in notified waters during this period, action would be initiated against him as per the sections mentioned in the Rules, a Fisheries department spokesman said here on Wednesday. He said under Section 7 (5) of the Haryana Fisheries Rules 1996, use of the poison, electric current, lime, dynamite or any other noxious or explosive substances in catching fish in notified waters would be statutory offence. The spokesman said people have been urged to cooperate with the Department in increasing the number of fishes in natural waters in the state and not to catch fishes in notified waters during fish breeding period, that is, July and August.
