Eleven Iranian fishermen were convicted on Monday of violating the provisions of Pakistan’s Fisheries Act as well as Foreign Act by entering the country’s territorial waters. The court of Judicial Magistrate (West) Amjad Siddiqui observed that the time the fishermen have already spent in prison will be considered as punishment and now they shall be deported from the country. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency had arrested Iqbal Noohani, Raheem Bakhsh, Siraj Jadgal, Raheem Noohani, Saeed Noohani, Abdul Basti, Siraj Noohani, Abdul Sattar, Hammad Prakash, Qadir Bakhsha and Hakeem on February 15 this year. The court had ordered their detention in prison on judicial remand and then heard the case against the accused on Monday, following which the magistrate decided that the time of detention will be considered as sentence served. Concluding the trial, the court then ordered that all the accused be deported from the country.
