The Government of Japan has granted Rs. 32 million financial support to uplift the agriculture industry in Ampara and fisheries industry in the Mannar District. The relevant grant contract was signed recently between Ambassador of Japan Kenichi Suganuma and the representatives of the relevant organizations at the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka. A grant of Rs. 20.2 million will be given to reconstruct a reservoir that was damaged during the war in Ampara. Another grant of Rs. 11.8 million will be given to provide solar dryers to low income women in the Mannar and Thalaimannar areas for drying fish. Sixty women and their family members will benefit under the project.
