Dead fish have been surfacing in Sursagar for the last couple of days. These are being removed regularly, but a controversy was raked up when it came to light on Wednesday that the fish were disposed of in the Vishwamitri river.
Dead fish had been reaching the borders of the pond in the morning for the last couple of days. Sources said that this could be due to a fall in the oxygen level particularly if this happens in the morning in summer. Earlier too, fish have died in the pond around the same time of the year.
After the complaints regarding the dead fish, VMC has asked its personnel to remove them in the morning. However, some persons spotted the workers carrying the fish to Vishwamitri river and dumping it there. The issue was raised with the civic body too.
